Jesus
Drawing by
Sr. Mary Raphael
Aug 10, 1928 - Jan 9, 2000
"It is You, O Lord, Who have
accomplished all we have done."
Sr. Raphael's artwork of Our Lord Jesus was used for a mini-book cover
called Jesus Needs Me
by Mother Angelica
He
needs us because He wills to do so; He wills that we cooperate with Him
for the salvation of the world. Through our neighbor He reaches out and
says,
"I need you."

- Sister Raphael served
as Vicar and archivist for many years a loyal friend to our Reverend
Mother Angelica and dear to the EWTN Family through her writings which
were featured in the "Family Newsletter." She had many God-given
gifts, including writing poetry, drawing, painting, and singing.
All these talents were used for His Honor and Glory.
- EWTN's original, Live viewer call-in talk show with
Mother Angelica offering practical and witty solutions to life's
challenges.
Through Mother Angelica's informal chats,
Bible study sessions, and her interviews with special guests, deepen
your understanding of the Faith and explore current issues relevant to
us all.
- Mother Angelica, foundress of EWTN, was semi
crippled for almost 40 years as a result of a back injury. She had to
wear three braces, one on each leg and one on her back, and she could
not get around without crutches. - On January 28, 1998, while
praying the Rosary with a woman from Italy whom she did not know, she
had a miraculous, instantaneous healing. She felt her twisted leg
suddenly straighten out and she took off her braces and walked...
- EWTN—a "miracle," as she calls it—but also on the
shrine itself, another miracle. "I think it is going to give people
courage. They lack awe—of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
And they lack courage—they won’t fight for anything. They have no guts.
I think what they experience when they walk into the church is courage.
That’s why it was built."

- Mother Angelica’s motto is: God will provide. She
even brags that EWTN "has never made money." The main fund-raising
method consists of her occasionally saying at the end of her show,
"Don’t
forget to put us between your gas and electric bill. Bye now."
